Betty Jean Strickland

Betty Jean Strickland, 91, was born on April 19, 1931 in San Antonio, Texas to James and Mary Smith and passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2023 in Shreveport, Louisiana.

She retired from AT&T after over 30 years of service. She had a strong relationship with Jesus Christ and was a member of Haynes Avenue Baptist Church. She deeply loved her family and all the pets she had over the years. To know Betty was to love her, and she will be truly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bennie Ray Strickland; son, Bennie Allen Strickland; sister, Elaine Hamrick; brother, Wilbur Smith; granddaughter, Melinda Fisher and great-granddaughter, Serena Jordan. Left to cherish her memory are her son, James Michael Stickland and wife, Anne; daughter, Charlotte Holland and husband, David; 5 grandchildren, Shana Stickland, Heather Rosario and husband, Johnny, Jason Holland, Richard Strickland and wife, Heather, Casey Griffin and wife, Lena ; 18 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

A private family graveside service will be held in Shreveport, Louisiana.
