SHREVEPORT, LA- Funeral services for Betty Jo Thornton, 89, will be held at 12 noon Monday, July 14, 2014 at Rose-Neath's Southside Chapel, 2500 Southside Drive. Officiating will be Brother Mike Stowell. Interment will follow in Centuries Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Sunday, July 13, 2014 at the funeral home. Betty was born on August 6, 1924 in Haughton, LA to Joe and Mary Mitchell and passed away on July 10, 2014. She was a resident of Shreveport, a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church of Keithville. She was preceded in death by her husband, W.L. Thornton; parents, 4 sisters, and 2 brothers. She is survived by her son, Duane Thornton and wife, Diane; daughter, Jodie Thornton-Lammons and husband, Randy; grandchildren, Shane and Shannon Thornton and Josh Nickels. Pallbearers will be Shane Thornton, Shannon Thornton, Josh Nickels, Donnis Hawkins, Jason Hay and Bubba Mercer. Rose-Neath Southside 2500 Southside Drive318-687-1256
