A private graveside service for Mrs. Betty Jean Yancey Williams, age 79, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at Forest Park Cemetery on St. Vincent Avenue in Shreveport, LA. Jerry Waren, Woodridge Baptist Church, will officiate. A visitation will be held Tuesday, June 28, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 1815 Marshall Street, Shreveport, LA.
Betty was born on August 28, 1942, in Shreveport, LA, to Elmer Felton and Helen Elliott Yancey. She passed away on Saturday, June 25, 2022.
Preceding Betty in death are her parents and her husband, Irvon Dayton “Rick” Williams. She is survived by her sons, Steve Horton and Andy Williams and wife, Jana; daughters, Angie Henington and husband, Charlie and Yalanda Rensink; sister, Shirley White and husband, Jim; nephew, Bo Snellings and wife, Amy; granddaughters, Abigail Henington, Samantha Menchue Millsap and husband, James, Crystal Williams Kuster and Pam Nugent; grandson, Jed Williams and partner, Courtney; best friend forever, Marilyn Fleming; and a host of cousins, other extended family members, and wonderful friends.
Everyone who knew and therefore loved Betty, her family, her friends, those she encountered in the world around her, knew her unwavering faith and her unconditional love of others. She was a faithful life-long member of Caddo Heights Baptist Church/Woodridge Baptist Church. Her Truth Seekers Sunday School Class was a joy in her life for over 27 years. She had a servant’s heart and found her true calling as a substance abuse counselor.
Honoring Betty as pallbearers are Cole Henington, David Henington, Matthew Henington, Steve Horton, Dominic Salinas, Jesse Shadburn, Bo Snellings, Jimmy White, Andy Williams, and Jed Williams.
Betty and her entire family want to express our sincere appreciation to Dr. “Bob” Massingill and to his amazing staff at both the Christus Oncology Clinic and the Christus Grace Home for their compassionate, loving and quality care throughout the past two years.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may be made to Woodridge Baptist Church, 850 E. Bert Kouns Industrial Loop, Shreveport, LA 71106, Susan G. Komen, 13770 Noel Road, Suite 801889, Dallas, TX 75380 or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
