HOMER, LA: Funeral services were held for Bettye Hightower McDonald, 83, at the First Baptist Church in Homer on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Brian Thurman, officiating. Interment followed at Lisbon Methodist Cemetery, Lisbon, LA. The family received friends at Rose-Neath Funeral Home on Tuesday from 5-7 p.m.
Mrs. McDonald was born December 18, 1931 in Summerfield, LA and she entered into rest Sunday, May 24th at her home surrounded by her loving family following a lengthy illness. She was a homemaker and an active member of the First Baptist Church of Homer.
Mrs. McDonald was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Felton O. McDonald; her parents, Frank Tennyson Hightower and Tillie Blanche Dawson Hightower; one daughter, Judy Kaye Brooks and one son-in-law, William A. "Bill" Creed.
She is survived by one son, John O. McDonald and wife Sandra Smith McDonald of Monroe; two daughters, Sue McDonald Garriga of Colorado Springs, CO and Bettye Gay McDonald Creed of Haughton; one brother, Clyde C. Hightower and wife, Marilyn of Haynesville; 6 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
