Bettye Hightower McDonald

HOMER, LA: Funeral services were held for Bettye Hightower McDonald, 83, at the First Baptist Church in Homer on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Brian Thurman, officiating. Interment followed at Lisbon Methodist Cemetery, Lisbon, LA. The family received friends at Rose-Neath Funeral Home on Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. Mrs. McDonald was born December 18, 1931 in Summerfield, LA and she entered into rest Sunday, May 24th at her home surrounded by her loving family following a lengthy illness. She was a homemaker and an active member of the First Baptist Church of Homer. Mrs. McDonald was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Felton O. McDonald; her parents, Frank Tennyson Hightower and Tillie Blanche Dawson Hightower; one daughter, Judy Kaye Brooks and one son-in-law, William A. "Bill" Creed. She is survived by one son, John O. McDonald and wife Sandra Smith McDonald of Monroe; two daughters, Sue McDonald Garriga of Colorado Springs, CO and Bettye Gay McDonald Creed of Haughton; one brother, Clyde C. Hightower and wife, Marilyn of Haynesville; 6 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. For friends considering memorials honoring Mrs. McDonald, her family suggests the First Baptist Church of Homer, the American Heart Association, or the Alzheimer's Association.
