SHREVEPORT, LA - A Celebration of Life services will be held for Beverle Jane Mattix Rizer, 74, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at Grawood Baptist Church in Keithville with a visitation prior to the service beginning at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Forest Park West Cemetery. Her son, Rev. Kevin Rizer will be officiating with Pastor Chris Willcutt of Grawood Baptist Church assisting. A visitation with the family will be held on Friday, September 23, 2016 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Southside Funeral Home.
Beverle was born July 6, 1942 in Casper, Wyoming to Marvin Neil Mattix and Velva Eithel Tomberlin Mattix, and passed away after a lengthy illness. Beverle grew up in Midwest Wyoming. She graduated from Billings Business College in Montana. After graduation she went to work in Casper, Wyoming and that is where she met the love of her life, James A. Rizer. After their long 3 month courtship they married and had 54 wonderful years together. Beverle was first introduced to Christ at First Baptist Church in Edgerton, Wyoming. As an adult she served Christ at First Baptist Church, Lafayette, LA where she was an active member of the choir. For the last 20+ years she has been enjoying her time at Grawood Baptist Church in Keithville, LA, where she has many life-long friends. Her favorite hobby was spoiling her grandkids. She always loved an adventure, no matter where it led. Loved to travel and loved to take spontaneous trips. Beverle was a fabulous cook and was always ready to make a meal for family and friends.
Beverle was preceded in death by her parents, Neil and Velva Mattix, one brother Bobby Mattix and sister, Judy Mattix. Survivors include her loving husband, James A. Rizer; son, Kevin Rizer and wife, Debbie; daughter, Shanae Anderson; her precious grandchildren, favorite oldest grandchild Courtney Anderson; favorite "boy" grandchild Seth Rizer; favorite blue-eyed grandchild McKenzie Anderson; and favorite youngest grandchild Tabbie Rizer; brother, Larry Mattix and wife Connie; nephews, Chris Mattix and wife, Lorrae, and Troy Mattix; niece, Kim Stitcher and husband Ross along with 5 great-nephews and 2 great-nieces.
Honoring Beverle as pallbearers will be Seth Rizer, Stephen Farmer, Robert Merrill, Shelby Rodgers, Artie Bagomolny and Cole Williams.
The family would like to say a special thanks to Nell Norwood and the staff at Superior Hospice and Mansfield Nursing Center, your kindness and compassion did not go unnoticed.
