Bill was born December 15, 1943, in Natchitoches, LA to Margaret Hicks Causey and Billie Pate Causey, Sr. and passed away February 28, 2018 in Shreveport, LA. He graduated from C.E. Byrd High School and earned a B.S. in Music and a M.S. in Business Administration from Centenary College of Louisiana. From his college days through his early career he was a photographer for the Shreveport Journal. He was the Band Director at Captain Shreve High School in the 1970s and 80s and, after retirement, started working at The Band House music store. Eventually he took over ownership of the store, growing the business to open two additional locations. He was a lifelong musician and a fixture of the Shreveport music scene, playing with his Big Band right up until the last couple of months of his life. Though he was raised as a classical trumpet player, his passion in music was Big Band Jazz. Among numerous other honors, he is a member of the Louisiana Jazz Hall of Fame. Though music was a driving force in his life, his greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Patrick Causey. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 51 years Judith Kleinhans Causey; sons, Andrew Patrick Causey and wife Jenny, and Chad Hans Causey and wife Suzanne; daughter, Megan Causey Frederick and husband Ethan; one sister, Meg Causey, RSCJ; one brother, Henry Causey and wife Sue; nine grandchildren, Emily, Shelby, Bailey and Braden Causey, Mia, Nathan, and Parker Causey, and Miller and Max Frederick.
Honoring Bill as pallbearers will be Ardis Case, Joey Castrogiovanni, Brian Clark, Steven Kilpatrick, Bob Maynard, Mark Minton, Galindo Rodriguez, and Lewis Smith.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Dr. Steven Kilpatrick for his excellent care and compassion through the years.
