Billie Jean Loftin

Billie Jean Loftin went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, April 27, 2023, at age 93. 

Billie was born to H.G. and Lettie Grace McKinnon on January 6, 1930 in El Dorado, Arkansas.  She was the oldest of eight children.  She attended Parkers Chapel School and graduated from Warner Brown School of NursingBillie worked as an RN at Highland Hospital in Shreveport, Louisiana for many years. 

Billie Jean and Ben met when they were young at Pleasant Grove Methodist Church. They married on June 16, 1951, and had two children, Sherry (Leon) and Ginger (Nancy). The four of them settled in Shreveport, Louisiana, where she became involved in the community and supported the family business, LLLL Construction.

She became Nanny to Sadie Dodson (Joey) and Katie McGoogan (Jason)She also enjoyed eight great-grandchildren-Mattie Motl (Ryan), Brock McGoogan, Kinnon Dodson (Hannah), Grace McGoogan, Aidan Dodson, Wittney McGoogan, Iain Dodson, and Caspian Dodson. She also has two great-great grandchildren, Miriam Motl and Malachi Dodson. 

In addition to being a dedicated and loving wife, mother, and Nanny, Billie also loved being involved at Blanchard Methodist Church/Northpoint United Methodist Church. She loved to travel and to garden. Billie was an avid sports fan and loved her Dallas Cowboys and LSU Tigers. 

In addition to her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, Billie is survived by her brother, Jerry McKinnonBillie joins her husband, Ben; son-in-law, Leon Hines; her parents, H.G. and Lettie Grace; her sister, Betty Sue, and her brothers, Morris, Tom, Bruce, Bob, and Danny in Heaven  

In Billie’s last few years, she had some loving and caring sitters: Vickie Gates, LaSonja Forch, Monica Lochett, and Val Forch and Ty Forch.

Funeral services for Billie will be held Sunday, April 30, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 1815 Marshall St., Shreveport, Louisiana. A visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Saturday, April 29, 2023. Burial will be held at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in El Dorado, Arkansas. Officiating the service will be Dr. Joey Dodson.
