Billie Louise Newsom

SHREVEPORT, LA - Memorial services for Mrs. Billie Newsom 93, will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 24, 2016 at Pilgrim Nazarene Church, 5550 Jefferson Paige Rd., Shreveport, LA 71119. Officiating will be Rev. Stephen Robinson and Rev. Dale Hoffpauir. The committal service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at Ritchie Cemetery in Moss Bluff, LA with Mrs. Gaye Landry paying tribute. Billie was born on February 17, 1923 in Frederick, OK to Clarence and May Hamby and went home to be with her Lord on July 19, 2016. She grew up in Oklahoma and married the love of her life, Glen Dwight Newsom right out of high school and her adventure in life began. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She made sure that she passed on her love of music to her children and grandchildren making sure they had any instrument they needed. Billie had a deep faith in God and was a member of Nouvelle Church in Lafayette, LA and leader of Bible Study Fellowship International for 15 years. Billie was preceded in death by her parents, husband Glen D. Newsom, sister Reba Harness and brother Laverne Hamby. Those left to cherish her memory are her three daughters Meridyl McBurney and husband Terry, Kaye Watkins and husband Henry, and Cheryl Robinson and husband Stephen; grandchildren Mack, John, and Craig McBurney, Lisa Hoffpauir, Glen Watkins, Carmen Hoffpauir, Amy Hoffman, Steve and Joel Robinson, and Marci Robinson Eguia. A host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials may be made to Nouvelle Church, P.O. Box 82561, Lafayette, LA 70598.
