Billy Ray Foster, 72 of Oil City, La passed away on June 25, 2024 surrounded by his beloved family and best friend at NCMC in Vivian, La.
Billy was born September 10, 1951 to Cisson R. and Lessie Foster.
He married Reba, the only woman he would ever have eyes for on September 11, 1969. They were married 52 years before her passing in 2021. His favorite thing to do was get mom riled up. He often told us he broke a lot of hearts when he married our mother. Mom would always laugh and roll her eyes at that comment.
Daddy was a hard working man who provided for and dearly loved his family. He retired from Calumet as the pipeline foreman in 2017 after having worked there for 43 years.
Family vacations were always spent camping and fishing. He loved to hunt, fish and sit on his front steps. Outside was his favorite place to be. He really enjoyed coon hunting and spent many years doing this sport with his good friend Rickey Parker. His coon dogs were like his children. Deer hunting was another favorite. Each grandchild who showed an interest in hunting started out in the deer stand with Paw Paw.
Left to cherish his memory are His three girls, Niki Hartley of Oil City, Toni Kendrick (Jerry) of Vivian, and Lori Foster of McLeod. He was the best Paw Paw to Jennifer Woods (Ryan), Caid and Chase Kendrick, Skyler Alison (Jacob), Connor Moore (Liz), and Jessie Foster. He loved his great grands too! Presli, Brylee, Rynli, Tovynn, Layton, Asher and Tatum. He is also survived by his 4 sisters and numerous other relatives and loved ones.
Dad was preceded in death by his "old lady", Reba Stevens Foster, his grandson, Austin Moore, his parents, sister, Angie and brother, James.
A special thank you to Dad's best friend and bonus son, Jeff Downs. You never left his side. He treasured your visits and your friendship.
While we lost our precious daddy/Paw Paw, many have lost a friend and loved one in him. Once you were important to him, there was nothing he wouldn't do for you. There was so much more to him than just being a dad/Paw Paw, though those were his greatest roles. He was also a friend, cousin, brother, stand-in paternal figure, occasional comedian, the list goes on. His was a life well lived. We will miss him dearly, but there is comfort in knowing he's now in the most beautiful place imaginable reunited with our mom.
His girls will have a celebration of life at a later date.
