MANSFIELD, LA--Blanche Irene Anderson Behan, 97, of Mansfield, Louisiana received her reward in heaven on February 10, 2018.
The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, February 15, 2018 at Rose-Neath's Chapel in Mansfield, Louisiana with Bro. Larry Pridmore of Southside Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow the funeral at Zions Rest Cemetery in Wallace Community. Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at Rose-Neath's Funeral Home in Mansfield, Louisiana from 5:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Rose-Neath Funeral Home. Blanche was born in The Wallace Community on July 22, 1920. She graduated from Pelican High School.
Blanche was married to Clarence Ray Behan (Bunk) on February 9, 1941; they were married 31 years.
Blanche worked on a relay line building munitions for World War II at the munitions plant for about 3 years when she was in her early twenties and her husband was overseas in the army. She also was actively involved in her church when she was in better health. She taught Sunday school and worked at a teacher in bible school. She has led many people to the Lord with her teaching and by her example. A godlier woman could not be found. She had an unwavering faith in the Lord. Though her life was hard she always trusted in God and put him first. She enjoyed quilting, working puzzles and gardening after her 8 children were raised and she had more time. She was fountain of knowledge and her children and grandchildren loved to hear the information she had from all the things she had experienced throughout her 90 years.
Leaving behind to cherish her memory are seven children, Ruth Coleman, Sandra England and husband Jerry, Lloyd Behan and wife Georgia, Carl Behan and wife Victoria, Stephan Behan and wife Janet, Betty Behan, Frances Lowe and husband Johnny; brother, David Anderson; sisters, Helen Roberts, Jewell Starnes and Arlene Smith; 24 grandchildren; 42 great grandchildren; 15 great-great grandchildren and other family and friends.
Blanche is preceded in death by her parents, Stacy Washington and Ettie Anderson; husband, Clarence Ray Behan; beloved daughter, Katherine Behan; sisters, Alma Hart, Clara Allen, Joyce Tieman, Julie Veuleman and Madelyn Muenzenberger; and brothers, Benice Anderson, Walter Anderson and Raymond Anderson.
Honoring the life of Blanche as pallbearers will be Jonathan England, Jeffery Behan, Nicholas Behan, Raymond Behan, Patrick Anderson, and Mike Huckabee. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Douglas Jordan, Jeremy Anderson, Luke Anderson, Jesse Shaw and Bruce Anderson.
