Bobbie Jo Hammonds

Graveside services for Bobbie Jo Hammonds, 92, will be held on Monday, September 9, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at Forest Park, 3700 St Vincent Ave, Shreveport, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be Reverend Jacob Dixon.

Bobbie was born on September 24, 1931 to Joseph Alva Williams and Thelma Estelle Sistrunk and stepfather, Ollie Sistrunk in Belcher, Louisiana and passed away Saturday, August 31, 2024 in Belcher, Louisiana.

Bobbie was a Medical Transcriptionist for over 39 years at Schumpert Medical Center where she devoted most of her time and effort. She was also a lover of Iris’s, and she planted those whenever she could. She loved reading and used to always be found with her nose in a book. She had a strong faith in God and attended church at Belcher Presbyterian every Sunday when she could.

Bobbie was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Thelma, stepfather, Ollie Sistrunk and husband, J.T. Hammonds. She is survived by her three children, Karen Denise Lites and husband, Roger Lites, J.T. Hammonds Jr. and wife, Neva Hammonds, Elaine Young and husband, Rickey Young; grandchildren, Christopher Charles Wilkinson and wife, Jennifer, Kelli Elizabeth Walker and husband, Cory, Lindsay Taylor Savage and husband, Jason, Jamie Abrahams and husband, Travis, Jared Hammonds, Rachel Kennedy and husband, BJ, and Garrett Young; great-grandchildren, JR Stevens, Mason Stevens, Landon Stevens, Eli Stevens, Dalton Walker, Penelope Savage, Scarlett Savage, Bailee Elliott, Bradley Elliott, Koen Abrahams, Kambel Abrahams, Mackenzie Hammonds, Mallorie Kennedy, Olivia Kennedy, Emory Young, and Grayson Young.

The family suggests memorials may be made to Belcher Presbyterian Church, 508 Gray St, Belcher, Louisiana 71004.
