Bobbie Jean Harris

Bobbie Jean Harris (nee Johnson), 88, of Shreveport, passed away peacefully on Monday , September 14, 2020 with her family by her side. She was born to Eldred Shawnee and Johnnie Virdue (Hollis) Johnson on June 12, 1932 in Mangham, LA. She grew up in Bastrop and moved to Shreveport in 1955. She was a member of Sunset Church of Christ. Bobbie loved spending time with her family and friends along with fishing, sewing and playing games. She was one who never met a stranger and was loved by many. She treasured all of her friendships; one in particular - her former boss, Bernie Waite. Bernie made it a point to drive from out of state every year to visit with her and she just loved that. Bobbie is preceded in death by her loving husband, Kenneth \"KR\" Harris; her parents; a sister, Mary Madeline \"Matt\" Cavender; brother, Charles Eldred \"Charlie\" Johnson; grandson, Caleb Prothro and her close friend, Guy Farley. Left to cherish her memories are her children, Jennifer Prothro Bass, of Keithville; Doug Prothro and wife Pam, of Haughton; Curtis Prothro and wife Tammy, of Blanchard; Carl Prothro and wife Lisa, of Shreveport; Carolyn Cornelius Campbell and husband Ed, of Argyle, TX; step-daughters Susan Harris Wisby and husband Phil, of Shreveport and Barbara Harris O\'Brien and husband Mike, of Mansfield, along with numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Visitation will be from Wednesday September 16, 2020 from 12:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Drive, with a small service to follow. A private burial will take place afterwards at Forest Park West Cemetery. A special thank you goes to her granddaughter, Brandy, and her husband, Daniel Walsworth, for kindly opening their home during this time and allowing mom to hold the hands of her loved ones again. Also, we are greatly appreciative to Shealee Johnson at Southern Hills Healthcare. She went out of her way to help us talk to our mom during her stay there. We are so grateful for this. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that you please make a donation to the charity of your choice.
