Bob was born to DeWitt Hines and Lois Mooney Hines on July 4, 1947, in Jonesboro, and he was the youngest of eight beloved siblings. He graduated from Bienville High School. Bob served for two years in the United States Army during the Vietnam War where he was stationed in Cam Ranh Bay. He later worked for Coca-Cola and Acme Glass Company where he made a lasting impact on his colleagues and the community he served. Outside of his work, Bob found joy in the great outdoors. Hunting was one of his favorite pastimes. Another passion was NASCAR racing. Starting from racing cars on the dirt track, he possessed an undeniable love for the sport and eagerly followed the races, cheering on his favorite drivers with enthusiasm. Bob also had a profound love for sports. He found immense joy playing softball and coaching boys’ baseball at the Baptist ballpark. Above all, Bob was passionate about love for his family and his faith in his savior Jesus Christ. He served as a deacon at Kelly Memorial Baptist Church and then was a faithful member of Broadmoor Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents DeWitt and Lois Hines; brothers, William "Buddy" Howard Hines, Derwood Hines, Huey Hines, and Laurice "Ed" Hines, and sister Polly Hines Hall and wife, Diane Hines. He is survived by his loving wife, Sue C. Merritt Hines; sister, Dot Killen; brother, Harry “Riley” Hines; daughter, Tracy Hines Ketrow and husband, Scott Ketrow (Bloomington, IN); son, Bubba Hines and wife, Sonja Hines (Shreveport, LA); stepson, Greg Merritt (San Antonio, TX); grandchildren, Tiffany Hines, Casey Hines and wife, Brittany, Ragan Bartholomew and husband, Clark, Quinn Ketrow, Alex Ketrow, Madeline Merritt, Peter Merritt, and three great-grandchildren, Sean, Bentley, and Chandler and numerous other beloved nieces, nephews, and family members.
