Bobby Ray Hounsel, 85, was born on February 18, 1933 to Blanche Alta Lynch Hounsel and Lyric Collins Hounsel in White Oak, Texas and passed away on May 19, 2018.
After graduation from Abilene Christian University in 1954, he moved to Shreveport to work briefly with United Gas before entering the Army for two years. Bobby was a sportsman and especially enjoyed deer hunting. He was a skilled woodworker and owned Hounsel's Cabinet Work in Shreveport, LA.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Laverne Haynes Hounsel, along with five children, Barry Hounsel and wife Debbie of Redfield, AR; Brenda Pearson and husband Alan of Amory, MS; Beverly Richey and husband Randy of Sunnyvale, TX; Bart Hounsel of Houston, TX; and Brad Hounsel of Dallas, TX; 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. His younger brother Jack preceded him in death along with their parents.
Honoring Bob as pallbearers will be Wayne Shamblin, Patrick Shamblin, Alan Pearson, Brian Pearson, Randy Richey, Kevin Richey, Nathan Hounsel, Ken Hounsel.
A funeral service will be held at University Church of Christ on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation with the family will be held an hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be held at the Northwestern Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Keithville, LA after services.
