Bobby G Pickett

Doyline, LA

Bobby Gene Pickett

The "boxcar" at the farm is empty today, but all of heaven is rejoicing. Bobby Gene Pickett, of Doyline, LA, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning. Bob loved family above everything and the cows ran a close second. He took great joy in politics, making conversation, driving the old dually truck, building fences, and dining out. Left to cherish his memories are: his wife of almost 30 years, Willie Pickett; son Bobby Pickett of Orlando, FL; daughter Liz Wilson and Paul of Converse, LA; grandchildren Kimberlee & Kyle Macks and John & Caitlin Wilson all of Doyline; two great-grands Brayden & Bristol Macks; brother Emmit (Punkin) Pickett of Doyline; sister-in-law Ann Lenette Pickett of Doyline; and numerous beloved cousins, nieces and nephews. Bob also had three daughters Sharon Pickett, MaryAnn Pickett, and Julia Pickett Coleman. He was preceded in death by his parents O.F. and Eugenia Pickett; brother James (Wick) Pickett; sister Marion (Black) McBride; and wife Mary Bunn Pickett. Bob graduated from Doyline High School, served in the Korean War and worked at Thiokol/LAAP until retiring to the cow pasture. He also enjoyed many years as a basketball referee. He was a member of First Baptist Church Doyline. In the past, he was on the board of directors for Webster Parish Cattleman's Association and Doyline Waterworks District #1; and a past member of the Doyline Lions Club. Visitation will be held at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden, Thursday, 5-8 p.m. Services will be at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, Friday 10 a.m. with Rev. Charles Clark officiating.
