Bonnie Jean Huckabee Chesley, of Shreveport, passed away peacefully March 13, 2017 after a brief illness. Funeral services will be held at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 1815 Marshall Street, Shreveport, La Friday, March 17, 2017 at 11:30 a.m. with Deacon John Basco of Cathedral of Saint John Berchmans officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service at Rose-Neath. Interment will follow at Northwest La. Veterans Cemetery, Keithville, LA at 2:00 p.m.
Bonnie Jean was born in Hope, Arkansas on September 20, 1922. She graduated from Norphlet High School and then continued her education at the Schumpert School of Nursing, graduating as a registered nurse. She served her country in the U.S. Army Nursing Corp during WWII. She enjoyed oil painting, ceramics and travel. She was devoted to her family, her friends and her group of neighbors at The Gables Assisted Living where she resided these last few years.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Charles Chesley Sr.; her parents, Ethel and George Huckabee; three sisters Kathleen Whitmeyer, Mabel Green, and Mary Mulé; and a brother Gloyd Huckabee.
Bonnie Jean is survived by son Charles (Diane) Chesley; daughters Linda (Ernest) Norman III, Barbara (Rodger) Holdsworth; grandchildren Stacey Ditt, Brian Chesley, Ernest Norman IV, Chesley Blixtberg, Halley Holdsworth, Myles Holdsworth, and Christian Holdsworth, six great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
