On Saturday, August 13, 2022, Bonnie Ruth Greene Keene, beloved family and friend to many, entered her final rest and entered the Kingdom. Bonnie was born July 31, 1955, at Barksdale AFB in Bossier City, LA to Virgil Eugene and Carolyn Ernestine Pixley Greene.
Bonnie spent most of her working years at Ludlow in Homer, LA. It was there she met James (Jimmy/Fuzzy) Keene. They shared 40 years together before his passing.
Bonnie will most be remembered for her work at Wesley Chapel, the Emmaus and Chrysalis communities, and Seeds of Light. She was a sincere and genuine Christian woman who displayed a servant’s heart. She gave selflessly of her time and her heart. She loved to share our Savior’s love and testimony with everyone. There wasn’t a friend or family she didn’t love BIG, and she had a unique love and relationship with each and every individual one.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James D Keene, Jr. and her parents.
Left to cherish her memory are her brothers John Greene, of Homer, LA, Jeff (Ramona) Greene of San Antonio, TX; her sister Cara (Jeff) Pugh of Homer, LA; and her stepson Joshua (Shawana) of El Dorado, AR.
Bonnie had a special relationship with her nieces and nephews. She was the best Aunt B and she was so proud of each and every one – Mike (Leslie) Greene of Farmerville, LA; Virgil (Nancy) Greene and Jeffrey (K’Ellen) Greene and son Cody Greene of San Antonio, TX; Carson and Cason Heard of Homer, LA; Jennifer Erickson and children Audrey and Rowan Erickson of Chatham, VA; and Jody Collins of Houston, TX.
Special thanks extended to Dr. Scott Haynes, Dr. Mark Haynes, the CMMC hospital and home health staff, Charlotte Collins, Don Kessler, and Vicki Duke. Thanks also to her many family and friends for your visits with her and your many prayers.
A memorial service to celebrate and honory the life of Bonnie Keene will be held Friday, August 26, 2022, at 5:00 p.m., Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church of Homer, LA, with Rev. Danny Baskin, officiating.
Bonnie’s latest project involved a chapel for Camp Caney. This fundraising was very dear to her in memory of her husband Jim.
