Bonnie Phillips Simpson

Funeral services were held for Bonnie Sue Phillips Simpson, age 83, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Homer, La., on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at 2:00 P.M. Brother Ray Anderson officiated. Interment was at Salem Cemetery in Athens, La., immediately following the service. Visitation was from 1-2 P.M. at Rose-Neath, Homer, La, prior to the service.

Bonnie was born on November 22, 1940, in Union parish, La., to Henry M. and Earmina Albritton Phillips. She entered into rest surrounded by her loving family on August 30, 2024, in Homer, La. Bonnie graduated from Farmerville High School and Warner Brown Nursing School in El Dorado, Ar. She began working at Campbell, Gladney, Haynes clinic in Homer. After working a short time she decided to be a full time Mom and homemaker. Bonnie was a member of the Homer Church of Christ. She was a special Christian lady that had a Godly influence on her children and grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 60 years Bobby Simpson, a great-granddaughter, Addison Black, and a son-in-law Jerry Clark.

She is survived by her daughters, Dena Simpson Clark and Vicki Simpson Bailey and husband Ken. Two grandchildren, Lauren Carroway and husband Justin, Colin Bailey and wife Bethany. Four great-grandchildren, Marley Black, McCrae Carroway, William Bailey, and Stella Bailey. A sister, Darlene Lombardino of Shreveport, La., brother Clayton Phillips and wife Margaret of Bentonville, Ar., and brother Mark Phillips of Farmerville, La. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. As well as a very special poodle, Molly.

A special thanks to Drs. Mark and Scott Haynes and the special nurses in the Claiborne Memorial Hospital Intensive Care Unit. Also, to two special caregivers and friends, Sue Buggs and Tommy Mitchell.

In lieu of Flowers memorials can be made to the Homer Church of Christ or donor’s choice.

Pallbearers were Colin Bailey, Ken Bailey, Justin Carroway, Bruce Simpson, Brett Simpson and Brad Simpson.
