Boyd Gene Birdsong

Boyd Gene Birdsong, 85, of Shreveport, Louisiana passed away Wednesday, January 15, 2025 after a courageous battle with cancer and dementia. 

A visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. with services to follow at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 22, 2025 located at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Drive in Shreveport. Burial will be held at Forest Park West Cemetery, 4000 Meriwether Road in Shreveport. 

Boyd and Jeneane enjoyed their many travels together. He was especially proud of serving his country by enlisting in the Air Force and Navy. Boyd loved worshipping the Lord by singing in the choir at Summer Grove Baptist Church. He will be dearly missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. 

Boyd was preceded in death by his parents, James Alvin and Willie Ray Birdsong; sister, Virginia Armstrong; and twin brother, Floyd Birdsong. 

Left to treasure his memory include his wife, Jeneane Birdsong; daughter, Alexandria Birdsong (Gary); son, Mike Birdsong; stepsons, James Gaskin, Steve Gaskin (Carrie), and Alan Gaskin; stepdaughters, Sharon Norris (Steve) and Pam Penick (David); 11 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and numerous cousins and friends. 

The family would like to extend their gratitude to Christus Hospice and Northwest Louisiana War Veterans Home for taking care of Boyd through his time of need.
