Brenda Blackmon Shirley

Funeral services for Brenda Blackmon Shirley, 66, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 16, 2023, at Koran Baptist Church, 5158 LA-527, Haughton, Louisiana. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial to follow the service at Beech Creek Cemetery, Atlanta, Texas. Officiating the service will be Mike Reichard.

Brenda was born in Lake Charles, Louisiana, on November 3, 1956, and was called home to the Lord on Wednesday, January 11, 2023. She had a very large family with many siblings.

Brenda loved to care for others. She worked at the State School and as a cook for many years. Her passion was caring for her children and grandchildren. She loved the Lord and served him in all that she did. She also loved her church family and enjoyed volunteering there any time she could.

 Brenda is preceded in death by her daughter, Ina Kate Browning; mother, Patsy Smith; step-father, Henry Smith; step-mother, Anette Blackmon; brother, Tony Blackmon; step-sisters, Debra Blackmon and Susan Smith; and step-brother, Russell Smith.

Left to cherish her are her husband, Jerry Shirley; sons, Brent Browning and wife, Diane, and Dee Shirley and Tracy Lopez; grandchildren, Brent Browning, Jr., Brittany Browning, Dillon Youngblood, Alexis Browning, Cameron Browning, Caden Lopez, and Mason Lopez; great-granddaughter, Brantleigh Sue Thomas; father, George Blackmon; sisters, Linda Riley, Cindy Mason, Sandy Allen, and Cassie Foster; brother, Tommy Blackmon; step-sister, Pamela Carden; step-brothers, Bobby Smith, and James Smith; and many nieces and nephews.

Honoring Brenda as pallbearers will be Brent Browning, Jr., Dillon Youngblood, Caden Lopez, Mason Lopez, Joshua Shirley, and Matthew Shirley.
