OIL CITY, LA- Funeral services celebrating the life of Burkey Edwin Tilley, Jr, age 76 will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, December 14, 2014 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, Vivian Chapel with Fudd Caldwell officiating. The family will have a time of visitation on Sunday, December 14th from 12 Noon until the service. Military grave rites will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, December 16th at the Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Keithville, LA.
Mr. Tilley was born in Shreveport, LA on November 22, 1938 to Burkey and Ruby Baker Tilley and passed away on December 11, 2014 at his residence in Oil City after a lengthy illness. He was resident of Oil City, LA for 20 years and a former resident of Vivian, LA.
Mr. Tilley was a business owner, member of the First Baptist Church in Oil City and a U.S. Marine veteran.
Mr. Tilley is preceded in death by his parents, Burkey and Ruby Tilley, sisters, Martha Ann Maniscalco and Linda Sue DeMoss. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Tilley of Oil City, LA; sister Jerry Ruth Johnson of Atlanta, TX; brother, Jerry Keith Tilley and wife, Adriana of Miami, FL. Mr. Tilley is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Honoring Mr. Tilley, as pallbearers will be Bill Parker, Fudd Caldwell, Ronnie Hall, Ken Fontenot, Ryan Self and Joanna Webb. Honorary pallbearers will be Jan Norris, Jerry Tilley, Donald Wayne Bruce and Jesse Webb.
