Mr. Jennings was born on March 16, 1931 in Simms, Texas to Forest Jennings and Cleonice Crow and went to be with his Lord and Savior on October 10, 2020 at North Caddo Medical Center, Vivian, LA. He was a faithful member of the Pine Street Church of Christ in Vivian for many years. Mr. Jennings worked construction for 50 years, but his first love was tending to his cattle with his son, Harold and grandsons, Keenan and Heath. He loved to travel with Harold and Pat to watch is his grandsons play ball. Mr. Jennings meant a lot to many people.
Mr. Jennings is preceded in death by his parents, Forest Jennings and Cleonice Crow Jennings; his wife, Florence King Jennings; 9 siblings and several extended family members. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving son and daughter-in-law, Harold and Pat Jennings of Vivian, LA; grandsons, Keenan Jennings and wife, Wendy of Shreveport, LA and Heath Jennings and wife, Cassie also of Shreveport, LA. He is also survived by his precious great grandchildren, Bella Jennings, Cooper Jennings, Brooks Jennings, Briggs Jennings and numerous nieces and nephews whom he would run to their aid if needed.
Mr. Jennings was a special Paw Paw to his grandsons and we leave you with a quote from Heath expressing their love for him:
"Anytime we were unsure about a decision - we confided in paw paw Anytime we were in need - we ran to paw paw Anytime we needed a favor no matter how big or small - we asked paw paw Anytime we needed guidance - we asked paw paw Anytime we wanted to escape the hustle and bustle of busy lives - we spent time with paw paw
My paw paw was a grandpaw unlike any other. I could write for days about the influence he had on my life and story after story after story of ways he helped make us all into the men we are today. I was a blessed little boy to grow up on the same property as my grandparents, they were a part of my everyday life. Today they are both gone but certainly never forgotten.
How I will miss hearing "Hey Hot Pocket!" when I walked through the front door. I will miss talking with him and telling him about my business and how things are going and seeing how excited and happy he was for me and him saying "oh baby if I could I'd be out there with you I would, but too much water has gone under the bridge". I will miss him always telling me a story about his younger years and how things have changed - I swear he was a master of all trades. There wasn't anything he couldn't do from all phases of construction and carpentry to agriculture and on and on... but most of all he was a God fearing man.
We could have been across the world and if we needed him - he would drop everything and come - no questions asked. That's what kind of paw paw I had and I'll never forget it."
Honoring Mr. Jennings will be Kennan Jennings, Heath Jennings, Kevin Whatley, Nathan Hale, Billy Hale and Jimmy Goss.
The family wishes to express their deepest appreciation to the North Caddo Medical Center, Dr. Jody Chance and its staff for the amazing love and compassion that was given to Mr. Jennings while in their care.
