SHREVEPORT, LA - Services for C. Douglas Harvey, 83, will be at 12:00 Noon Saturday, June 4, 2016 at Rose-Neath Southside Chapel. Officiating the service will be Rev. John Berry assisted by Rev. Paul Lobello. Interment will be at Forest Park West, Shreveport, LA. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Douglas was born on March 8, 1933 in Arkadelphia, AR to Charles Lytal Harvey and Allie Esther Wade Harvey and went to be with the Lord Jesus May 31, 2016. He fought a courageous battle, his pain and suffering have ended. He soared far above the clouds to Heavens open gates. He was employed at Wray Ford in the parts dept. many years until his retirement. He served in the U. S. Army as a Medic trained in caring for the sick, wounded, and dying during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Kings Temple Church. Doug Harvey loved his family unconditionally. He was a very considerate and witty man. He was a happy man that had a smile that could light up the room.
He is preceded in death by his parents. Leaving to cherish his memory is his wife of 58 years, Bettye Grigsby Harvey; two sons, Stephen Harvey and wife Amanda of Owensboro, KY, and Michael Harvey of Whitney, TX; grandsons, Wade, Garrett and fiancé Mollie Busby, and Matthew; granddaughters, Laura and Julia Harvey; great-grandchildren, Alexis, Cameron, Brayden, Gatlin; and Nieces and nephews; brother, Fred Harvey and wife Vivian of Grand Cane, LA.
Honoring Doug as pallbearers will be Garrett Harvey, Matthew Harvey, Marvin Harvey, Curtis Smith, Jeff Rawls, and Clifton Allen.
Honorary pallbearers for Douglas will be Dr. Al McKinney, Jerry Gardner, Dewayne Colston, and George Antee.
The family would like to thank Dr. Kenneth Morrison and Dr. White for their kind and compassionate care of our husband and father.
