C. W. Loyd

SHREVEPORT, LA - Services celebrating the life of C.W. Loyd, 95, will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at Rose-Neath Marshall St. Chapel with Brother Gene Nix officiating. Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Longstraw Cemetery in Choudrant, LA. Visitation will be held prior to service from 10:00 a.m. until service time. C.W. was born February 11, 1922 in Ruston, LA to Emmett and Mary Loyd. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1942 to 1946 off the coast of Africa in WWII. On October 3, 1947 he married Winifred Youngblood Farmer. He loved photography, rodeo, fly fishing and enjoyed fellowship and eating at the Highland Center. He attended Shreve City Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Winifred Loyd; brothers, Lester Loyd, Ronnie Loyd; sister, Bobbie Boatright. He is survived by his daughter, Helen Givens; grandchildren, Tom Givens and wife Dora, James Givens and wife Lora; great-grandchildren, Jon, Austin, and Candance; and niece, Amy Boatright. Honoring C.W. as pallbearers will be Ryan Dooley, Tom Givens, Brian Treat, and Larry Virgilio. Memorials may be made to Shreve City Baptist Church, 2810 Knight St. Shreveport, LA 71104.
