Shreveport, La- A funeral service for Calvin Joseph Hotard, 88, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church. Officiating will be Father Philip Michiels. Interment will follow at Forest Park West Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday, March 2, 2015 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church.
Calvin was born February 5, 1927 in New Orleans to Henry J. Hotard, Sr. and Lucia Dominique of Luling, La. Both are deceased. Calvin passed away February 28, 2015.
He was baptized at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Attended Redemptorist Catholic School taught by Sisters of Mercy, studied Fine and Applied Art under John McCrady's School in New Orleans.
He served in WWII. Assigned to 8th Army Occupation of Japan in the 3186 Signal Battalion Stationed in Yokohama. He was discharged in December of 1946 at Ft. Hood in Texas as a 546 Communication Chief, assigned communications.
Calvin married his beloved wife, Mary Ruth Williamson of Jackson. She preceded him in dying February 26, 2012.
Calvin has two sons, Chris Hotard and wife Patsy of Mason, Tx, and Mark Hotard and wife Susan of Benton, La. He has two grandchildren, Tandy Hotard and Shawn Hotard. He has one great granddaughter Laybree Grace.
Calvin came to Shreveport in 1961 on a company transfer. He worked for E.I. Dupont for 34 years. He retired in 1983.
Calvin spent 22 years as a member of St. Theresa's Catholic Church now closed.
