SHREVEPORT, LA - Camille Cascio Matassa, age 93, was called away to her Lord on Wednesday, December 17, 2014 after a courageous battle with cancer. Camille was born March 8, 1921, in Sidon, MS. She was a life time resident of Shreveport. Camille loved her family above everything else in the world. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 46 years, Frank Matassa; her parents, Rosario and Concetta Marzullo Cascio of Shreveport, LA, and formally of Cefalu, Sicily, and her brothers, Albert, Sammie, Johnnie and Peter of Shreveport; sister Connie Aston of Nacogdoches, TX. She is survived by one daughter, Francille Matassa and husband, Jerry Knotts; one son, Sammy Matassa; brothers, Angelo Cascio, Anthony Cascio and wife, Martha and George Cascio; sisters, Mary Jane O'Brien and husband, Donald; and Rosina Cascio; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Camille was a charter member of St. Pius X Catholic Church of Shreveport, LA. She belonged to the Ladies Guild, Circle one, Immaculate Conception. Camille was a faithful member of St. Pius X. She dearly loved her church, faith and many church friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 22, 2014 at St. John Berchmans Cathedral, 939 Jordan St., Shreveport, LA. Interment will follow at Forest Park East, St. Vincent Ave. Father Charles Glorioso and Father Joe Kallokalahan will officiate. Visitation will be held at Rose-Neath Funeral Home Chapel, 1815 Marshall Street on Sunday, December 21, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. A Vigil will be held at 7:00 p.m. Honoring Camille as pallbearers will be David Aston, Michael Aston, Gary Cascio, Roy Joseph Cascio, Charles Matassa and Walter Wise. Honorary Pallbearers will be Andrew Cascio, Michael Cascio, Roy Charles Cascio, Sam Cascio and Nick Matassa. The family would like to thank Camille's doctors, Dr. Alan Borne, Dr. Christopher Snead and staff and St. Joseph's Hospice. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials may be made to St. Jude Childrens Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101-9908 or to donor's choice.
