Carl Huey Cheatwood, Jr.

Funeral services honoring the life of Mr. Carl Huey Cheatwood, Jr., will be held on Sunday, December 29, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home Chapel in Arcadia. Burial will follow at Old Saline Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home. Bro. Calvin Hubbard and Mr. Randy Kennedy will officiate the services.

Carl was born on October 9, 1938, in Shreveport, Louisiana to Carl Huey Cheatwood, Sr. and Georgia Driggers Cheatwood Graham. He entered into rest on December 23, 2024, in Jonesboro, Louisiana.

Carl was a man of many talents, and had numerous hobbies. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, a gun smith, a musician who played multiple instruments, a farmer, and a gardener, to list just a few of his hobbies. Carl served his country proudly in the U.S. Air Force from 1956 until 1960. He also proudly served his community at the Shreveport Police Department from 1963 to 1983. After retiring from the police department, he went to work for the GM plant for their security department. Carl was ordained as a Baptist Deacon at Old Saline Baptist Church, where he was a faithful servant to his Lord and Savior. Carl’s greatest and most precious accomplishments though were his family. He was a devoted husband to the love of his life, Anita Cheatwood, for 63 years, a wonderful father, extraordinary grandfather, loving brother, and friend.

Carl is preceded by his parents, Carl Cheatwood, Sr. and Georgia Cheatwood Graham, daughter Carla Anderson, and brother Gerald Cheatwood.

Left to cherish his memories is his wife, Anita Graham Cheatwood; son, Alan Cheatwood; daughter, Connie Kennedy and husband Randy; grandchildren, Jehna Stephens, Allysonn Evans and husband Joshua, Sarah Cheatwood, Caleb Kennedy and wife Laura, and Hoye Kennedy and fiancé Elizabeth Busher; great granddaughter, Iris Evans; sister, Bernice Dans; sister-in-law, Diane Cheatwood; and by numerous nieces, nephews, and other loving family and friends.

Honoring Carl as pallbearers will be Caleb Kennedy, Hoye Kennedy, Chris Kennedy, Billy Dans, Steven Free, Roger Snead, and Greg Stephens.
