SHREVEPORT, LA - Graveside Services for Carl Colvin Futrell, 85, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 9, 2017 at New Hope Cemetery, Lincoln Parish, La, Hwy 822- six miles from Downsville. Officiating will be Dr. Carl Rhoads of First Methodist Church in Shreveport. The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. Sunday, January 8, 2017, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 1815 Marshall Street, Shreveport, LA.
Carl was born May 24, 1931, in Vienna, LA, to Joseph Aaron Futrell and Mavis Colvin Futrell. He passed away January 5, 2017 in Shreveport, surrounded by his family. Preceding Carl in death is wife Ruthye Torbert Futrell, son Carl "Cal" Colvin Futrell, Jr., son Wesley Craig Futrell, and brother-in-law W. H. Whitman. Left to cherish his memory is sister Elizabeth Futrell Whitman; daughters Lisa Langley and Leslie McCallister and husband Rick; grandchildren Tess Bradford, Sadie Schurman, and Martin McCallister; nephew Wayne Whitman, wife Michelle, and niece Susan Mitchell; and special friend Margie Burns.
Carl was employed with and retired twice from Tamko, and spent 36 years with Bird & Son, Inc. Carl was a United States Army Veteran and served honorably in the Korean Conflict, Japan.
Honoring Carl as pallbearers will be Martin McCallister, Wayne Whitman, Steve Allums, and David Young.
Carl and Ruthye's favorite charity was the Louisiana Methodist Children's Home in Ruston, LA.
