Carl Dennis Holbrook, Sr.

Carl Holbrook, a U.S. Army veteran was born on September 12, 1927 and passed away peacefully from a brief illness on September 6, 2014. Funeral Services will be on Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath' Southside Chapel, 2500 Southside Drive, Shreveport, LA with family visitation preceding the services from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. Carl was a devoted husband and loving daddy. He enjoyed fishing, was widely known for his fish frying talent and gumbo creations. He always sported a certain twinkle in his eye and was forever clowning. He truly lit up every room he ever walked in. He is survived by his wife, Wanda Cotner Holbrook, son, David Holbrook (Gayle), daughters, Lisa Swonke (Ronnie), Allison Long (Charles), stepsons, Michael, Tommy, Donnie & Ricky Dale Gwin, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many friends. Carl is preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Margret Fletcher Holbrook, son, Carl Dennis Holbrook, Jr. and sisters Lois Saunders and Sarah Wood. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Dr. P. V. Blanchard, St. Joseph's Hospice and especially Dana Clark for their compassion and loving care while Carl made his peaceful transition into the arms of his Loving Lord and Savior with whom he had a close, personal relationship.
