Carl Keith Taylor, a devoted family man and respected member of the Shreveport community, passed away on Monday, October 21, 2024, at the age of 67. Born on May 8, 1957, Carl dedicated his life to serving others and had a profound impact as a public servant.

For 33 years, Carl worked for the Shreveport Police Department, where his wisdom and leadership culminated in his retirement as a captain. He embarked on this noble career after beginning the Police Academy in August of 1986, driven by a desire to make his community a safer place. Carl took immense pride in his role, embodying the values of service, dedication, and integrity throughout his career.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Carl was admired for his kindhearted nature. He cherished his family, reflecting a love that extended to everyone around him. His warmth and affability drew people in, and he was known for his generous spirit and willingness to lend a hand.

Outside of his law enforcement duties, Carl's interests flourished in a variety of hobbies. He held a deep affection for animals and often enjoyed indulging in retail therapy through the QVC shopping network, where he would order items with great enthusiasm. His inquisitive nature also led him to shop in stores, where he would spend hours simply exploring and appreciating the variety of goods available.

A true craftsman, Carl was a master mechanic, skillfully fixing everything from lawnmower engines to tractor-trailers. His passion for mechanics led him to operate a small shop from his home, Taylor's Small Engines, where he shared his expertise and love for all things mechanical with others.

Carl's legacy is not only marked by his professional achievements but also by his enduring love for his late wife with whom he shared 26 wonderful years of marriage. His proudest accomplishments were his commitment to family and the respect he garnered as Captain of the Shreveport Police.

Carl Keith Taylor will be deeply missed, not just as a dedicated officer, but as a loving family man and a friend to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His memory will live on in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have shared in his life.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Robert James Taylor and Dorothy Elaine White, and his wife, Catherine Taylor. He is survived by children, Michelle Josting, and husband, Terry, Juliet Vilardell, and husband, Ronald, James (Chris) Sauseda, Laura Culotta, and husband, Chris; brother, Jeffrey Taylor, and wife, Dana; sister, Patsy Woolverton; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, and five nieces and nephews.
