Funeral services were held for Mrs. Carlette Sanford, age 89, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Homer, LA, on Monday, February 5, 2024, at 1:00 p.m., Rev. Rodney Gray, officiated. Interment was at Arlington Cemetery in Homer, LA. Visitation was at the funeral home on Sunday from 2-5 p.m.
Mrs. Carlette was born December 15, 1934, in Homer, LA, to Carl H. and Azalea Owens Crews. She entered into rest on February 2, 2024, at her home, surrounded by family in Homer, LA. Mrs. Carlette was employed by Presbyterian Village as a Dietary Manager for 47 years. She served on Homer’s Town Counsel for nine years. Mrs. Carlette enjoyed gardening and working with flowers. She attended First Church of God of Homer where she served her Lord. Putting together puzzles and spending time with her family and friends was a favorite past time. Mrs. Carlette was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great, great-grandmother.
She is preceded in death by her parents; loving husband of 56 years, Lee Roy Sanford; sister, Lavelle Stewart; and son-in-law, John Gray.
She is survived by her four children, Gail Gray, Kenny Sanford and wife Betty, Sue Hughes, and Iva Albritton and husband Paul; six grandchildren, John David Gray and wife Angie, Jami Albritton, Jerrod Gray, Kenni Lynn Sanford, Alex Albritton, and Carlee Tabor and husband Jake; nine great-grandchildren; two great, great-granddaughters; other relatives and many friends.
Pallbearers were Levelle Hicks, Zachary Hicks, John Caskey, Hunter Pate, Steve Grayson and Brent Aubry.
Mrs. Carlette’s family would like to express their gratitude to special friend and like her son, Levelle Hicks; sitters, Urlettra Adams, Janet Stewart, Cathy Franklin, Brianna McCloed, Betty Simmons, Barbara Williams, and Nancy George; Dr. Abshire and Bristol Hospice’s staff for the care and compassion given her during her final days.
In lieu of flowers honoring Mrs. Carlette, her family suggests memorials be made to Shriner’s Hospital, in honor of her great-granddaughter, Ellee Sue Tabor.
