HOMER, LA: Funeral services were held for Carol Elaine Hays Bourn, 58, at First Baptist Church in Homer, LA on Wednesday, September 21, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Brian Thurman and Rev. Troy Bayne officiating. Interment followed in Arlington Cemetery. The family received friends at the church on Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. Carol was born November 19, 1957 in Homer to Mr. and Mrs. William Taylor Hays, Jr. She entered into rest at her home on Sunday, September 18, 2016 in Homer following a lengthy battle with multiple myeloma. Carol grew up in Homer attending Homer Elementary and graduated from Claiborne Academy and LA Tech. She taught and retired from Claiborne Academy after 25 years. Carol was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Homer where she taught preschool Sunday school for over 30 years. She enjoyed sewing and spending time with family. Carol was preceded in death by her father, William Taylor Hays, Jr. She is survived by her loving husband of 37 years and the father to her children, Thomas Ralph Bourn; their children, Thomas Bourn and wife Summer, Erin Stewart and husband Mike, and Caroline Bourn; grandchildren, Ashlyn, Avery, and Anna Grace Bourn, Avelyn and Jack Stewart; mother Joy Hays; a sister, Nelwyn Clack and husband Steve; brother, Jay Hays; nephews, Landon, Justin, and Chris Clack, Ty and Hutton Hays, and Keith Walker; mother and father-in-law, Pat and Thomas Gene Bourn; sister-in-law, Karen Walker. Pallbearers were Landon, Justin, and Chris Clack; Ty and Hutton Hays; and Keith Walker. Honorary pallbearers were Danny Bays, Kimbell Hays, and Clayton Hays. In lieu of flowers honoring Carol, her family suggests the I Love My Church Fund at First Baptist Church of Homer, Claiborne Academy and Home Away from Home Ministry, Little Rock, AR.
