HOMER, LA: Carole Kirk, 84, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on January 26, 2018, after complications of the flu. Services honoring her life and faith were Wednesday, January 31st at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Homer. Visitation was from 9:00-11:00 a.m. followed by graveside services at Arlington Cemetery. Officiating was Rev. R.B. Moore of the First United Methodist Church of Homer.Carole was born in Haynesville. She grew up in the Homer Oilfield and married her high school sweetheart, L.E. Kirk, Jr. While L.E. served his country in the U.S. Army, they traveled the country together and later settled in the Homer Oilfield to raise their family.Carole became a Christian at a young age and served her Lord faithfully at the Homer Oilfield Baptist Church, Calvary Baptist, and the First United Methodist of Homer. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, doting grandmother, caring sibling, and attentive friend. Carole enjoyed planning holidays for her family that were special times of love, celebration, and food. There was nothing she enjoyed more than the laughter and joy of her family around the table!Carole graduated from Homer High School and attended business school. She worked at Claiborne Electric Co-op for many years as well as Kendrick Insurance Agency.She is preceded in death by her parents and loving husband.Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Nancy Laffitte and husband, Ralph of Quitman; son, Richard Kirk and wife, Jamie of Pensacola, FL; grandchildren, Daniel Laffitte and wife, Stephanie of Quitman, Zachary Laffitte and wife Kristi of Calhoun, and Jacob Kirk of Belden, MS; great-grandsons, Brandon Laffitte, Kolton Laffitte, and Waylon Laffitte; brother, Ben L. Richardson and wife Melba of London, TX; sister, Dorothy Blackwelder of Monroe. Carole had many special nephews, nieces, and friends.Carole's family wishes to thank the compassionate caregivers at Willow Ridge Nursing and Rehabilitation in Arcadia, as well as Dr. Mark Haynes and Dr. Scott Patton. Pallbearers were Dan Laffitte, Zack Laffitte, Steve Blackwelder, Mike Blackwelder, Pat Blackwelder, and Ronald Day. In lieu of flowers honoring Carole, her family suggests donations be made to the First United Methodist Church of Homer or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital of Memphis. TN.
