Carolyn Jean Tucker Grimsley, 73, of Bossier City, Louisiana, passed from this life on January 3, 2023, after a year-long battle with lung cancer. She passed peacefully at home, surrounded by family and friends who loved her. She traveled this journey with extreme courage and grace. She was born July 6, 1949, at Barksdale Airforce Base in Louisiana. She was the daughter of Sam and Alice Tucker. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Willie Clifton “Cliff” Grimsley, Jr.; daughter, Cassandra Keating and husband, Owen Keating and two granddaughters of Arlington, VA; son, Craig Grimsley and wife, Jessica, three granddaughters and two grandsons, of Bossier City, LA; and brother, Harold Tucker and wife, Sue of Sumter, SC.
She is a graduate of Bossier High School, Louisiana Tech University, the University of Alabama in Birmingham, and the University of North Carolina in Greensboro. She was active in the New Providence Presbyterian Church when her family lived in New Jersey and the North Point Community Church after they returned to Bossier City. She was the broker at the RE/MAX real estate firm in Madison, New Jersey, and served as president of the New Jersey chapter of Certified Residential Specialists, a national professional organization. She served as the president of the Greater Summit, New Jersey United Way Organization, and a member of the New Providence School Board. She returned to Bossier City with her husband in 2006 to be with aging parents. She became active in real estate in Shreveport/Bossier after joining Century 21 Elite. She served as the Northwest Louisiana Board of Realtors president and twice as president of the Louisiana chapter of Certified Residential Specialist. True to her passion for education, she was a founding member of the Northwest Louisiana Chapter of the Young Professionals Network of the National Association of Realtors. She was the chairwoman of the 100-year celebration for Bossier High School and was inducted into the Bossier High School Hall of Fame as an outstanding educator. She was recognized as the realtor of the year by the Northwest Board of Realtors and most recently recognized by the Women’s Council of Realtors as the realtor of the year. She adored her seven grandchildren. She had a special place in her heart for the area children of our title 1 schools. She supported and advocated for the title 1 school uniform and meal program of her church, Northpoint Community Church.
A Celebration of Life service for her will be held Saturday, January 14, 2023, at 9:00 a.m. at Northpoint Community Church, 4204 Airline Drive, Bossier City, Louisiana, with a family graveside service following at Rose-Neath Cemetery, 5185 Swan Lake Road.
In lieu of flowers the family requests a donation to the Northpoint Community Church school outreach program, 4204 Airline Drive, Bossier City, Louisiana.
