Carolyn Jean Mixon Clarkson

Funeral services for Carolyn Jean Clarkson, 86, will be held on Thursday, December 5, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana. Burial will follow at Plain Dealing Cemetery, LA-157, Plain Dealing, Louisiana. A visitation will be held Thursday, December 5, 2024, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Officiating the service will be Rev. Jesse Truitt and Rev. Bob Dyal. 

Carolyn was born on June 5, 1938, to Crawford W. Mixon and Amelia Elizabeth Henrichson Mixon, in Shreveport, Louisiana, and passed away on her mother’s birthday, Wednesday, November 27, 2024, in Shreveport.

Carolyn was an artist with the Shreveport/Bossier Art Clubs. She taught art in Shreveport, Bossier, and DeSoto Parish for over 30 years in the Youth Enrichment Program. Carolyn and her husband, Thomas Arnold Clarkson, were founding members of their church, Faith Bible Missionary Church, in Shreveport.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Crawford and Amelia Mixon; and her husband, Thomas Clarkson. Left to cherish her memory is her son, Bob Clarkson and wife, Geneva; daughters, Winona Denny, Juanita Duvall J.D.; grandchildren, Chad Clarkson, Kristen Fruge, Christopher Newhouser, Amelia Swift, Nathan Campbell, Grace Duvall and Carolyn Steins; great-grandchildren, Ezra, Olivia, Elijah, Josiah Fruge, Elsie Newhouser, and Anna and Joshua Swift; and numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members and friends.

Honoring Carolyn as pallbearers will be Rev. Frank Black, Jonathan Black, Rev. Eli Domingue, Gary Humphries, Rev. Kyle Wonn, and Rev. Jonathan Norwood. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Kristen Fruge, Grace Duvall, Christopher Newhouser, Nathan Campbell, Chad Clarkson, Amelia Swift, and Carolyn Steins.
