Carrie Jane Martin Bradshaw went home to be with her Lord and Savior on June 2, 2021 at 96 years of age. She was born May 5, 1925 in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Carrie grew up in Shreveport and lived most of her life in her hometown. She was a faithful and loving wife to Herbert (Brad) for 64 years, until his passing in 2013. She was devoted to her three children - a mother hen always watching out for her chicks. She worked occasionally outside the home in retail sales, as a bookkeeper, and for a local orthodontist. Her very favorite job, in the eyes of her kids, was at the candy department/counter at Sears. She would come home after work, and all three would be waiting anxiously at the door for the popcorn or candy she would invariably bring!
Carrie lived her life as a devoted Christian. Her church was the center of her life, and she made sure her children were at church "every time the church doors were open." She spent many hours studying and teaching the word of God. She was a Sunday school teacher for many years, and she especially enjoyed working with the young people in her church.
After her kids grew up, she took up art and painting as a hobby. She liked to keep up with "what the young people are doing," so she took courses at LSU-S to learn how to use a computer. Even at 96 years of age, she regularly texted and used her IPAD. Her real joy was going on trips to Hawaii with Brad. She was always ready to get back on a plane and head to Honolulu.
Carrie was known for expressing her love for those around her with a hug. If she saw you, you could count on a big and loving HUG! She was a light in many people's lives, and she will be missed.
Carrie is preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Virginia Martin. Carrie is survived by her son, Martin Bradshaw and wife, April, of Pilot Point, Texas; daughter, Cheree Sotolongo and husband, Hugo, of Frisco, Texas; and son, Brian Bradshaw; and grandsons, Colin and Ian, of Phoenix, Arizona.
