SHREVEPORT, LA - Graveside services celebrating the life of Cathy Lee McDonald, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 15, 2016 at Centuries Memorial Park Cemetery on 8801 Mansfield Rd, Shreveport, LA 71108. Rev. John Harp will officiate. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 14, 2016 at Rose-Neath Southside Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport, LA 71118.
Cathy was born on October 5, 1956 in Meridian, MS to Edward Lee McDonald and Lois Smith McDonald. She went to be with the Lord April 11, 2016 after a long battle with Cancer. Cathy spent her life in Shreveport, LA. She was a talented piano player and enjoyed playing for her family on the piano in her mother's home. She was a smart lady. She graduated from Southwood High School in 1972 and attended undergraduate studies at LA Tech in Ruston, LA. Her career entailed working at Western Electric, AT&T, and Rockwell Boeing.
Cathy had a good heart. She was a believer in Jesus Christ and loved her family and friends. She loved animals; she and her two children had many pets over the years. Most recently, she adored her dog, Taz. Cathy and her sister, Sue Anne, shared a special bond and are now reunited in their eternal home. Cathy was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, aunt and grandmother. Her family will cherish fond memories shared with Cathy.
Cathy was preceded in death by her father, Edward Lee McDonald; sister, Sue Anne McDonald Petrus Ladatto; son, Shane Edward Basinger; granddaughters, Jadyn Basinger and Kinsley Basinger; and niece, Sherry Anne Petrus. Those left to cherish her memory are her loving mother, Lois Smith McDonald; daughter, Shelley Lee Basinger Ruud; granddaughters, Taylor Lee Powell and Anna-Lise Ruud; grandson, Kyler Shane Basinger; great-grandson, Eli; niece, Lesa Petrus Townsend, great- nephew, Nick Townsend; niece, Wendi Petrus Grabener and husband Scott Grabener; great-niece, Abigail Grabener, great-nephew Ethan Grabener and many loving relatives in Mississippi.
