Cecil Mims, 72, of Shreveport, Louisiana passed away suddenly on June 1, 2023. He was born on July 28, 1950 in Orange, Texas to Malcolm and Eunice Ann Mims.

A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 24, 2023 at Rose-Neath Cemetery, 5185 Swan Lake Road in Bossier City, Louisiana.

Cecil graduated in 1975 with a B.S. in Major Recreation from Northwestern State University, where he was a member of Sigma Tau Gamma Fraternity. He worked for Nabisco, McCormick, and retired from Caddo Parish School Board. Being a teacher, coach, and mentor were his biggest accomplishments in life. He was an avid supporter of all sports while teaching at Southwood High School. In his free time, Cecil enjoyed playing sports and watching the Dallas Cowboys and University of Texas sports. He never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Cecil was preceded in death by his parents, Malcolm and Eunice Mims. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 48 years, Pamela Villemarette Mims; his sons, Kevin Mims and wife Bridget, and Jonathan Mims; his granddaughters, Ella and Eveleigh; his sister, Andretta Williams; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members.
