Catuna, LA - Funeral services honoring the life of Charles Ray Bissell, 70, will be 2:00 PM, Friday, December 26, 2014 at Old Union Baptist Church in Catuna with Reverend Alton Middleton and Reverend Ronny Chism officiating. Burial will follow in Old Union Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Old Union Baptist Church on Friday, December 26, 2014 from 12:00 noon until service time.
Charles Ray was born September 2, 1944 in Converse to Carl and Totsie English Bissell and passed away December 22, 2014 at his home with his family by his side. Charles Ray was a welder by trade and was in the Local 141 in Shreveport and Local 26 when he lived in Washington State. He loved working with his hands. Charles Ray was a member of Old Union Baptist Church that he helped to restore. One of the highlights of his work was the Cross that he made for the front of the church. He enjoyed fishing with family and friends in his spare time. The greatest love of his life was his family.
Preceding Charles Ray in death were his parents and a sister Melba Bissell.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife Donna Marie Bissell; daughter Tammy Bissell Todd and husband Mike; son Timmy Bissell and wife Claire, stepchildren Larry Adams and wife Theresa, Charlie Schimmel, Marilee Adams, Brenda Adams, and Debby Norton; sister Judy Daniels; brother J. C. Bissell and wife Wanda; 38 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and the mother of his two children Peggy Bissell.
Honoring the life of Charles Ray as pallbearers will be Walter Daniels, Steven Bissell, Trent Todd, Craig Norton, Logan Adams and Larry Adams. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Todd and Garrett Taylor.
