Charles Brooks

Shreveport, LA- Charles Brooks age 64 passed away from a heart attack on April 27, 2020 in Shreveport, Louisiana. He was born to JD and Alice Brooks on May 7, 1955. He was preceded in death by his father JD Brooks. Left to cherish his memory are his wife Renee and their three sons Cody and wife Tracy, Corey and wife Christina, Chase and wife Holly. He also leaves behind five grandchildren, Wyatt, Walker, Raylan, Wiley and Maddie; his mother, Alice Brooks; sisters, Jeannie Moton and husband Michael, Connie Griffin and husband Byron; brothers, Bobby Brooks, Ralph Brooks and wife Renee, Roger Brooks; mother and father in law, Gary and Julia Williams, many aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews. Anyone that knew Charlie knew that his family was his whole heart. They were first and foremost to him above all else. He was the one to call for whatever you needed. Charlie was the man that could comfort you with very few words but every word meant something. He would let you know that whatever the issue, everything would be all right. He was able to make you feel that there was nothing that couldn\'t be handled even though it might be something that you didn\'t want to hear. He was the strong shoulder to lean on and was like a second father to all of his son\'s friends. Sometimes they would come over just to talk to him. You could be sure though that before you left you were going to have something to eat, hungry or not. But it would definitely be something that didn\'t \"come out of a box\". Charlie instilled in his boys the fact that you defend the ones that can\'t defend themselves and don\'t start trouble but don\'t take any either. Always do what was right. He always had 900 things to do but would drop whatever he was doing to help anyone. He pinched pennies on everything but would give you his last dime. Charlie was known for his white hat. He absolutely would not wear one with a logo because \"he wasn\'t going to advertise for anyone\". He got such pleasure in watching his sons raising their sons. Just sitting back watching and remembering what he had gone through with them. His favorite saying was \"Can\'t have sh$$! If these boys don\'t mess it up they lose it!\" except not in those exact words. Charlie loved to fish and hunt. He was the hardest hook setting, bass fishing, no shallow water fishing man on the lake. Many times he would almost fall out or did fall out of the boat just to \"set the hook\". Every missed fish he\'d look at you, take a deep breath and say, \" That was a good one.\" His legacy will live on through his sons, grandchildren and the many lives he touched. To us ,\"his family\" he was the greatest man on earth. Please share your memories with us. We find great comfort in hearing stories of \"Mr. Charlie\", \"Uncle Charlie\" and \"Pawpaw Charlie\". Due to Covid 19 the family will have a memorial service at a later date.
