Charles Thomas Branagan, 72, of Benton, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at his home surrounded by family.
Charles “Charlie” was born on July 15, 1952, in Hoboken, New Jersey, to the late Charles and Helen Branagan. He was married to the love of his life, Pamela Shinn Branagan, for 36 years and was the proud father to Autumn Branagan of Haughton, LA, Brooke Branagan of Frisco, TX and stepdaughter, Hillary Arnett of Mt. Sterling, KY. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Daemon and Joshua Branagan and Gabriella Kolniak; step-grandchildren, Dylan and Caytlyn Ingram and Anna Claire Arnett, as well as his wonderful brother, Paul Branagan of Las Vegas, NV and his late sister, Carol Branagan Rich of Hickory Hills, IL.
Charlie was drafted into the United States Army in 1973 and served in Vietnam as well as spending two years in the Army National Guard. Upon his honorable discharge he began working for Gould Battery (now known as Exide Technology) in North Bergen, NJ where he spent 38 years, rising from the position of factory worker to his final position of Vice President of Operations, before his retirement in 2010.
Charlie never knew a stranger and was best known for his quick wit and larger than life personality. His favorite hobby was fishing, whether it be on a charter boat in the Gulf of Mexico or sitting in the trolling seat on his Sea Ray on Black Bayou Reservoir. He enjoyed visiting with all of the neighbors during his morning, “walk”, which consisted of a stroll up and down the cul-de-sac and so looked forward to his daily bantering with his brother. Charlie will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him; he was often referred to as “one of a kind”.
A celebration of life will be held at Kilpatrick’s Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2201 Airline Drive in Bossier City, Louisiana on Friday, February 14, 2025. Visitation will be at 2:00 pm with the service to follow at 3:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the American Heart Association, www.heart.org or the American Lung Association, www.lung.org
