A visitation service for Charles C. Gibson III will be held on Friday, June 25, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 1815 Marshall St., Shreveport, Louisiana. Charles was born on November 17, 1942 to Charles C. Gibson, Jr. and Evelyn L. Gibson in Shreveport, Louisiana and passed away Sunday, June 20, 2021 in Shreveport, Louisiana. He grew up and went to school in Cotton Valley, Louisiana and after graduating high school, he went to Louisiana Polytechnic Institute (Louisiana Tech University) and completed the prescribed curriculum in School of Business Administration with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. In his junior year he was initiated into the Alpha Chi chapter of Beta Alpha Psi, a national professional accounting honor organizational. Charles served as Staff sergeant at Barksdale Air Force Base and was discharged in 1971 and moved to New Orleans for a few years. He then moved to Magnolia, Arkansas as the CEO for a roofing company. After several years he and his wife chose to move to Shreveport, Louisiana to take a position at a CPA firm. Later he chose to start his own CPA firm. He and his wife worked for 40 years before retiring because of health issues in January 2020. Charles' faith was very special for him. He was always studying the Scriptures online, seeking the truth. He joined Chuck Missler's Koinonia Institute and became a Berean, an Ambassador for the Coming King. After studying for a couple of years he passed the courses in the King James Version Bible, with a score of 98. He had a love for reading and writing. He served on the NORWELA Council Board of Directors, Boy Scouts of America and served as Scoutmaster with Troop 6 at St. Mark's Cathedral, Shreveport. He was awarded the James E. West Fellow Silver Beaver Award for Distinguished Service to Youth and the Brotherhood rank with Order of the Arrow. Charles is preceded in death by his parents, Charles C. Gibson, Jr. and Evelyn L. Gibson. He is survived by his wife Eloise of 50 years; son, Charles C. Gibson, IV; brother, William Francis Gibson; sisters, Mary Katherine Gibson and Cynthia Gay Corbell and husband, Kevin; nephew, Cliff Corbell and wife, Molly Corbell; great-nieces, Evalyn and Adalena Corbell and great-nephew, Glenn Corbell. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
