Charles Edward "Eddie" Ellers passed away peacefully in Bossier City, Louisiana on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at age 85.
Born in Memphis, Tennessee on May 18, 1931, he was the son of Lois Leona "Louise" Hall and Charles Vincent Ellers. Spending his youth in New Orleans, Eddie joined the United States Navy in 1948. He served as the Storekeeper aboard the USS Misspillion AO-105 from 1949 to 1952. Subsequent to his Military Service, Eddie began his civilian career within Louisiana's Oil and Gas Industry by joining Continental Supply and later in 1955 National Supply where he worked until 1969. In 1969 "Oilfield Eddie" the entrepreneur, launched his own business in Shreveport, Louisiana named North Louisiana Pump and Supply where in 1976 the name changed to Oilfield-Industrial Supply Corporation. Oilfield-Industrial Supply remains a thriving multi-state family operation and "Oilfield Eddie's" legacy has been a cornerstone to North Louisiana's Oil & Gas Industry for over forty seven years.
He is survived by his loving wife of forty-two years, Barbara Ann Ellers and his sister, Jettie Louise Forehand of Pittsburg, Kansas; six children and nine grandchildren: Teresa Ellers Disiere and husband David and their children Hunter and Taylor Cardwell all of Dallas, Texas; Charles "Chuck" Michael Ellers and partner Michelle Brewer of Bossier City, Louisiana; Patrick Morse Ellers and wife Stacie and their children Patrick, Cortland and Dalton Ellers all of Blanchard, Louisiana; Julie Ellers Walsh and husband Dr. Douglas "Doug" and their children Henry & Lucy Walsh all of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Russell Edward Ellers of Miami Beach, Florida; and Mary Ann Ellers and her children Haiden and Kailey Landry all of Bossier City, Louisiana. Great grandchildren: Eli, Emilia and Easton Ellers.
Preceded in death by his grandparents Charles Franklin Ellers and Teresa Cecile Ellers; his parents Charles Vincent Ellers and Lois Leona "Louise" Hall Ellers and wife of twenty years Gertrude "Trudy" Owens Ellers.
Eddie was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church and a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus where he served as a Grand Knight of Council 1108. He will be eternally remembered as an honorable, kind, generous and loving father, grandfather and husband.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at St. Jude Catholic Church, Benton, LA with interment at the Forest Park Cemetery, St. Vincent Ave., Shreveport, LA. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at Rose-Neath Bossier Funeral Home, Bossier City, LA.
