Memorial services to celebrate the life of Charles E. "Ernie" Hill, 74, will be held Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at Noel United Methodist Church Chapel on Herndon Street. Reverend Dave Fortuna will officiate for the 10:30 a.m. service.
A native of Shreveport, Louisiana and a resident of Houston, Texas for more than 50 years, Ernie passed away in the early morning of Saturday, May 29, 2021 at Heritage Manor Stratmore after a long battle with cancer and diabetes.
After graduating from Bossier High School in 1964, Ernie earned both his bachelor and master's degree from Northwestern State University. His occupations early in his career included a landscaping business, selling playground equipment, teaching and coaching middle school and high school, and working as a private detective.
He finally fulfilled his dream of becoming a lawyer when he graduated from South Texas Law School. Ernie practiced law over the years with several of his good friends, including Harry Arthur, Perry Bass and Woody McClelland. He finished his career practicing immigration law and criminal defense. Early in his career he also did personal injury.
He is survived by his brother, Pesky (Carol) of Shreveport; nieces, Larissa Stout (Will) and Ashley Petree (Brad); grandnephews, William Stout and Hudson Stout; and grandnieces Molly Ann Petree and Mabry Petree; all of Shreveport. Ernie was the son of Charles and Gladis Hill Lynch.
Ernie was passionate for sports. He was a big fan of the Texans, Rockets and Astros but he never lost his love for the Saints, LSU or Northwestern State. Ernie also really enjoyed the outdoors especially when he was playing golf.
A special thanks for the care provided in his last days by Julie Reynolds of Lifepath Hospice, Nichole Burdine of Heritage Manor and Dr. Robert Hernandez.
