A memorial service honoring the life of Charles Edward McQueen will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 6, 2023 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 315 Marshall Street, Shreveport, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be Monsignor Earl Provenza and Reverend Duane C. Trombetta. A private inurnment will take place at a later date.
Charles Edward McQueen was born October 25, 1941 in Shreveport, Louisiana to Willard and Nellie McQueen and passed away at home surrounded by family, Thursday, March 2, 2023 after a brief illness.
Charles married the love of his life, Susan Elizabeth Richards, on March 20, 1961. They were married for 54 years until she passed away in August of 2015. Charles proudly served in the United States Army. After the military, he worked for Dowell Oil and Gas before becoming a long-distance truck driver. After retirement, he enjoyed working in car sales. He had an uncanny ability to know the distance and time of arrival for any city in the country. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, often cooking enough to feed an army.
He is preceded in death by his parents, loving wife, and daughter, Karen McQueen Burt.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Kellie Taylor and husband, Cliff, and Keith McQueen; grandchildren, Kelsey Schwab and husband, Nate, Courtney Matlock, Charley Taylor, and Kaitlin Wood and husband, Jake; and seven great-grandchildren.
