Charles was born on August 21, 1936 in Camden, AR, and, on August 11, 2016, passed, at home in Shreveport, LA, and went to be with The Lord. On August 21, 1956, he married Bertha Marie Smith. They resided in Mansfield, LA and, later, in Baton Rouge, LA. They were blessed with three, beautiful and wonderful children, Dwain, Tammie, and Randy. Charles worked for 35 years as a welder, off-shore. He was a hard worker, always dedicated to the task at hand. He spent his last three years at Waterview Court, where he was known as "Charlie" to a host of friends. He was very active in that community and was always busy playing cards, dominoes, Bingo, and bean bag baseball, and being both friend and helper to those around him. He persevered through these last years despite chronic illnesses that left him with significant, physical challenges, never letting anything hold him back. Charles loved life and his family. He will be deeply missed. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 48 years, Bertha Marie, his parents, Claude and Myrtle Pinkston, and his sister, Edith McMaster. Survivors include his three wonderful children, son, Dwain and wife Debbie Pinkston, daughter, Tammie and husband Ken Manas, and son, Randy and wife, Michelle Pinkston. Also, his sister, Barbara Minter, seven dear and beautiful grandchildren, Stephanie and husband, Heath, Melissa and husband, Willie Weems, Meredith Manas, Daniel and wife, Amanda Manas, Joshua and wife, Melissa Pinkston, Lindsay and husband, Casey Louis, and Bethany and husband, Brandon Toups. He had also had five great grandchildren, Gavin, Eli, Morgan, Brody, and Noah, with two more expected, and numerous nieces and nephews. His legacy will live on in the lives of these precious children. The family extends special thanks to all of the wonderful friends who gave love and support during his life and at the time of his passing, and to those who provided his excellent medical care including Dr. Alan Borne, Dr. Stuart Blum, Dr. Stephen Patton, Dr. Stephen Ramey, and home health staff including nurse Shelly Prichard. They, along with his devoted daughter, Tammie, who provided continuous, loving care, helped him to have the best quality life to his last days. "Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for Thou art with me."
