Charles Wayne Watkins

Charles Wayne Watkins passed away on September 10, 2024, at the age of 66 after a brief illness. Charlie was predeceased by his parents, Christine Wellborn Watkins and Knoll Watkins, and his high school sweetheart of 44 years, Tami Jones Watkins.

Charlie is lovingly remembered by his daughters, Sarah Watkins Carlisle (husband, Shane) and Morgan Christine Watkins of Shreveport, LA, and Kathryn Watkins Anderson (husband, Logan) of Kingwood, TX; brothers, Ron of Saluda, SC, William “Bert” of Seymour, IN and Michael of Joaquin, TX; sisters, Lillian “Jody” Watkins McEver of Carrollton, TX, and Maybeth Watkins Gilbert of Keller, TX; granddaughters, Chloe Elizabeth Carlisle and Ella Katherine Carlisle of Shreveport, LA, and Camille Margaret Anderson and Charlotte Jones Anderson of Kingwood, TX; his special friend, Cindy Riley Speights; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Charlie served overseas in the US Army, and he spent his career in the beverage distribution business where he maintained many close friendships. Charlie had a passion for music, and you could frequently find him with friends and family at concerts and festivals. We also secretly believe that Charlie was a ghost writer for dad joke books.

A private graveside service will be held at Forest Park Cemetery West in Shreveport, LA with a celebration of life service at a later date.

Memorial donations may be made to The Highland Jazz & Blues Festival (http://www.highlandjazzandblues.org/).
