Charles Wayne Woods, affectionately known as "Pop", a resident of Logansport, LA., was called home on Wednesday, January 17, 2018. Born August 17, 1936, to Edell and Dorothy Woods of San Augustine, TX, Charles married his high school sweetheart, Del Durrett, in 1956. Their 61 wonderful years together resulted in 4 children, 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, who were his pride and joy. A celebration of Charles's life will be held at 3:00 on Saturday, January 20, at First United Methodist Church of Logansport. Interment will follow in O.E. Price Cemetery. Visitation will be held Saturday from 1:00-3:00 at the church.
Pop was loved by all who knew him. Hard work, wit, storytelling, and a passion for family, characterized a strong and loving husband, father, and grandfather. Many happy hours were spent together on the banks of Toledo Bend, and in Pop's early days, pulling his children skiing up and down the banks of the Sabine River. Charles coached his boys in Little League Baseball for twenty years and attended First United Methodist Church. Following his service in the U.S. Navy, Charles worked with the U.S. Department of Agriculture, retiring after 39 years. Pop and Del enjoyed traveling in their RV, camping, and fishing, including particularly memorable trips to Alaska and to Omaha to watch LSU in the College World Series. He dearly loved spending time with his family, and they will cherish the memories of times spent together.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, James Matthew Woods.
