Charlie Sanford Davis, Jr. (Sandy), 62, of Keithville, LA went to be with his Lord and Savior on November 3, 2017 following a courageous battle with cancer. Sandy was born on December 8, 1954 in Shreveport, Louisiana. He was a proud veteran of the Shreveport Fire Department where he served for 27 years. After retirement he served as the Director of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness for Caddo and Bossier Parishes. He spent the last 3 years working for the Louisiana Governor's Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness where he retired in May of 2017. Sandy was a graduate of Woodlawn High School, a member of Rose Park Baptist Church, and served in numerous capacities at the local, state, and national levels. Sandy was preceded in death by his father, Charlie S. Davis, Sr. and his mother, Hazel L. Davis. He leaves behind his loving wife of 43 years, Patti Davis; daughter, Staci Phillips and husband Clint of Waskom, TX; daughter Mandi Cabana and husband CJ of Fairview, TX; and son Justin Davis and wife Katie of Keithville, LA. Left to cherish his memory are his 9 precious grandchildren: Camon, Isabelle, and Ashlynn Philips; Jordan, Katie, and Lacie Cabana; and Eason, Presley, and Max Davis. Sandy is also survived by his two brothers, Steve and Sidney and a host of extended family. Patti and the family would like to express special thanks to the Shreveport Fire Department for supporting Sandy and his family through this journey. They also want to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at the Christus Shumpert Cancer Center who wrapped Sandy in love and care over the past five years. Funeral services celebrating his life will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday November 7, 2017 at Summer Grove Baptist Church in Shreveport, graveside to follow at Forest Park West. Visitation will take place at the Church from 5:00-7:00 pm Monday, November 6, 2017. Officiating will be Dr. BJ Rocky Maddox, Pastor of Rose Park Baptist Church, and Brother Mike Stowell, Pastor of First Baptist Church of Keithville. Honoring Sandy as pallbearers will be Mike Echols, John Fulco, David Glass, Billy Jordan, Ronnie Jordan, and Henry Simons. Honorary pall bearers will be the Brotherhood of the Shreveport Fire Department. Flowers may be sent to Rose Neath Southside Funeral Home or donations made to the American Cancer Society in honor of Sandy's courageous fight.
