Charlotte Ann Bush

Funeral services for Charlotte Ann Bush, 75, will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana. Burial will follow at Forest Park West Cemetery, 4000 Meriwether Rd. in Shreveport. A visitation will be held Saturday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Officiating the service will be Rev. Andrew Brewster.

Charlotte graduated from Woodlawn High School in 1967. She married Mike Payne and had four children: Sheryl, Shannon, Sonja and Shean. Charlotte spent the first 20 years of her marriage doting on her wonderful children and establishing a loving family. In 1989, she and Mike divorced, and she relocated to her family home on Toledo Bend in Many, Louisiana. It was here she met her life partner, Buddy Harville, and they raised their child, Zack Spurlock. Charlotte and Buddy navigated raising Zack with one another. Though not married, they shared a commitment to love unconditionally and embrace each other through life’s ups and downs. Zack transformed Charlotte’s life and gave her the opportunity to re-experience motherhood, and he definitely kept her young at heart. Charlotte was cheerfully devoted to her blended family and delighted in enriching special needs children’s lives for over 30 years teaching in Sabine Parish. This was her passion and calling in life.

Charlotte was a creative soul with vision which allotted her the ability to open a small business where she lightheartedly toiled away crafting candles for her friends, family and community. “Nana’s Candles and Things,” she called it. At any given time of the day, you could find Charlotte with a cup of coffee in hand. Black with two spoonfuls of sugar. On the TV, one of four shows would be on – Law and Order, ER, Judge Judy, or Naked and Afraid. Life for Charlotte changed when she finally figured out how to work the Amazon app. This became her favorite way to shop for her loved ones. Charlotte secretly loved cats. Her kitten, Booger, laid on her lap as she took her last breaths. Charlotte was a glorious angel here on Earth for her family and the children’s lives she impacted. She will be cherished and missed deeply by all those who were blessed enough to know her and be touched by her light of love.

Charlotte is preceded in death by her father, Riley J. Bush; mother, Opal Evon Bush; brother, Jerel Bush; son-in-law, Chad Shows; and sister-in-law, Debi Bush. Left to cherish her memory is her life partner, Author Buddy Harville; children, Sheryl Payne and partner, Rhonda Cryer, Shannon Garcia and husband, Richard, Sonja Shows, Shean Payne and wife, Hillary; and Zack Spurlock; grandchildren, Hannah Anderson and husband Mason, Payton Elwell and Brady Payne; great-grandchildren, Aubree and Parker Anderson; siblings, Gary Bush, Ray Bush, Diane Hudgens and husband, Mark; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Honoring Charlotte as pallbearers will be Erik Tompkins, Rod Harville, Brandon Richardson, Bill Harmon, Ethan Harmon, and Loren Elwell. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Noah Wolf and Darwin Mott.
